Guide to San Diego Waterfront Park

If you’re visiting San Diego and want to take advantage of the excellent year-round weather, breathtaking views, and outdoor activities, a visit to San Diego Waterfront Park should be on your itinerary.

About the San Diego Waterfront Park

The San Diego Waterfront Park is located at 1600 Pacific Highway. It is close to the Embarcadero, which is adjacent to San Diego Bay. The park is one of the most popular attractions in lively downtown San Diego.

The outdoor park, which opened in May 2014, was designed to provide residents and visitors with a public space to enjoy the outdoors and take in the sights of San Diego. It is a 12-acre park on the north and south sides of the San Diego County Administration building.

It boasts open grassy areas, themed gardens, manicured lawns, a walking and biking path, two large interactive water fountains, picnic areas, and a playground with colorful swings and slides.

You can easily access the park by car, bus, and train. The San Diego Trolley also stops at the park, making it easy to get to and from.

Things to do in the Waterfront Park

There are plenty of things to do in the park, including walking or biking along the waterfront, picnicking, and more. And on hot days, you can cool off by playing in the water at one of the park’s splash fountains.

Here are some cool activities to engage in at the park:

  • Have a picnic
  • Read a kindle book

  • People watch
  • Take your pet for a walk

Underneath the park, you will find a garage featuring parking, a bathhouse, and a snack bar. You may get candy and snacks at the bar for as low as $1 or grab delicious foods at food trucks lurking around the park.

Events in the San Diego Waterfront Park

If you are lucky, you may be greeted with a farmer’s market, exhibition or festival when you visit the San Diego Waterfront Park. The Crssd music festival is usually held annually in the park, with the next one scheduled for the 24th of September, 2022.

You may also rent any of the park’s facilities, including the amphitheater, picnic areas, and intimate gardens, to host a corporate event, wedding, birthday party, or any public or private event. The scenic view of the San Diego skyline, Embarcadero, and the San Diego Bay will add to create a stunning backdrop for your occasion.
